Time to make big changes in my life with lots of work to do in a short amount of time! I've never backed down from a challenge and I don't intend on doing so now!

On October 13, 2009 I submitted my application to join the Canadian Armed Forces as a Regular Force member. Basic Military Qualifications (BMQ) is scheduled for end of August, 2010.

Up & Running

I am official!

Had my official swearing-in ceremony today! It’s official, I’m a Private! …. well, a private with an (R) beside it meaning, recruit. When BMQ is done, that’ll be removed but - still! I’m a private!

Who woulda thunk a year ago I would ever be here? Around this time I was waiting, waiting, waiting for my [...]

T-22, Getting your affairs in order

Being prepared for basic training does involve more than just getting fit, mentally prepared and through the job interview. For some — especially older people or those with commitments such as family — have a few more things they need to arrange before they leave.  When the recruiting centre asks you if you have any [...]

T-44, Updates

Hey! Just a few updates….

Ankle …………

The ankle is healing up really awesome and I’d say I’m already about 90-95% healed, after just a few days. I think that’s pretty good considering how severe it felt on Saturday and how the doc said he’d never seen someone get a sprain in that part of the foot [...]

Progress

Things are moving along here pretty good the past little while. The following chart is from Traineo, a place I keep track of things. We all need a nice little pretty chart now and again, don’t we? To see our progress?

It’s interesting to see the ups and the downs on the chart you’ll see below [...]

All that I learnt

When I first started this blog over a year ago, I had wanted it to be a place where I could speak about the truth of what is happening with things. I wanted it to be a place where I could document the highs and lows… the pros and the cons… the good and the [...]

The good, the bad and the…. what? Take Three!

Next in the series of entries called The Good, The Bad and the… WHAT?!, is an update of my progression in meeting the minimum standard requirements for entrance into the Canadian Forces.

Back at the end of March, 2009 I first wrote an entry called The good, the bad and the … what? in where I had [...]

Sleepless nights

The past few nights have been rather sleepless. It’s nearly 4 a.m. on a Sunday morning and all I can do is think about the trade of my dreams, not opening up this year. I knew it would be a difficult one to get into but the fact they aren’t hiring anyone, leaves me wondering. [...]

A special thanks to deceitful sizing practices!

A few things made my day today… just thought I’d share them with you!

Firstly, I want to send out a special thank you to fat clothing stores which engage in deceptive sizing practices. I went shopping today for a new pair of pants. They are a size 14. I am in no way CLOSE to [...]

For every high? A low...

After my last post of finally getting into the 210’s (219), Christmas came. And it went. And on the way back from my holidays down south, I was hit by a truck.

My brother and I were both in the vehicle. I managed to avoid a head-on (barely) and many people who are “in the know” [...]

Patience... not a virtue I currently possess!

A lot of sleep has been lost the past two weeks or so as I worry about whether or not I have a snow-ball’s chance in hell at my ‘dream trade’. The trade is closed for the year which means all positions for the 2009/2010 fiscal year (April 1 to March 30) have been filled. [...]
