Time to make big changes in my life with lots of work to do in a short amount of time! I've never backed down from a challenge and I don't intend on doing so now!

On October 13, 2009 I submitted my application to join the Canadian Armed Forces as a Regular Force member. Basic Military Qualifications (BMQ) is scheduled for end of August, 2010.

Up & Running

My decision…

After last night’s post, I came to my senses. I’ve been a swimmer long enough (even with the hiatus) to know that I can’t possibly increase to 600 metres in such a short period of time. That’s over 1/2 a kilometre of swimming, if you think about it! It sucks to make this decision BUT [...]

Tuesday Exercise Report

After my midnight run (which was technically on Tuesday), I had a nice little sleep. When I awoke, I called the local pool to see if I could take the lifeguarding course I wanted. I can’t unfortunately because the course being offered is an add-on to the first part of it (ie, there’s a pool [...]

Timed run result! And, the time is...

2.4 kms in approximately 24:10! That means so far I’ve managed to cut off four minutes and 20 seconds from my overall timing. I need to cut off another 10. I haven’t done much running AT ALL but I am feeling a little better and a little stronger.

The next two weeks, I need to focus [...]

It was not the heat OR the bears that did me in! It was the...

… bloody effin’ wasps. I was about 10 seconds from starting the running portion of my run when the little f’ers started to chase me. I had deer and horse-flys after me for the first part (which I can handle, I’ll squash ‘em) but I hold the horses when it comes to wasps. By the [...]

A site for you to gobble up!

A while ago (like, last year sometime?) I was trying to find some new blogs to read. Blogs come and go… but I wanted something good and tasty! I found this site which at first, I almost dismissed… why? ‘Cause, I thought at first it was one of those sites that were scammer sites… they [...]

Sit-up challenge and timed run and a swim

Today is a bit of a workout day for me… necessary to push myself forward! I’m on the first day of the sit-up challenge. I will be doing the lowest level which means it’ll take a while to do the full 200 sit-ups but I’m taking it done day at a time. Yesterday I could [...]

Getting ready for PRTC!

This past week I heard back from the aboriginal recruiter guy and consulted with an elder and everything is a go essentially for the September training course which lasts for three weeks. It is an introduction to the military and if I succeed with this course and desire to continue, then it’ll be the regular [...]

News from the Front

Well, I’ve not been progressing as quickly as I would like to. However, I do have some news on stuff happening here… I spoke with someone today from the military and we’re going to try and get me set up for the September three-week course. That means, this thing is becoming REAL and I have [...]
