Time to make big changes in my life with lots of work to do in a short amount of time! I've never backed down from a challenge and I don't intend on doing so now!

On October 13, 2009 I submitted my application to join the Canadian Armed Forces as a Regular Force member. Basic Military Qualifications (BMQ) is scheduled for end of August, 2010.

Up & Running

Day 5 down, 38 to go : Cleaning and Stretching

Hey folks, no big exercise planned for today. I have a bunch of housecleaning I need to do today and getting prepared for a small camping trip as well as being on the road again for a while. I hate this point, where I’m all stressed. I need some stability and need to get that job [...]

Day 4 down, 39 to go : Bush, bears & blisters

I did my 13K “march” as I’ll call it. It’s what has to be done every year or so in the army, usually within 2hrs, 25 minutes and with a 60 pound sack. (Well, actually… not sure what the timing is supposed to be… I heard it is 2:12 from one person, 2:35 from another… [...]

I want you to live

A few years back, my brother worked in the theatre and often had a chance to meet a lot of famous people. One of them was George Canyon, a Canadian singer who reaks of genuine kindness. My brother had a chance to speak to him at a time when our soldiers really started to die [...]

O.K.O.A - Day 2 down, 41 to go : PART TWO!

Okay. My lungs are still intact but barely. I wanted to push my limits tonight… because, I’ve been doing some number crunching and need to get my butt into gear.  Let’s crunch the numbers and then I’ll share what I did tonight.

O.K.O.A - Day 2 down, 41 to go : A walk in the Park

Today I woke up at 10:30 (pretty early for me, actually — and will try to gradually wake up earlier each day… another of my ‘tasks’ in O.K.O.A!) and decided to do my ‘long-walk’ which was going to be about 11.5 kms. However, the forecast was calling for thunder storms so I altered my plans [...]

Operation Kick-Own Ass (a.k.a., OKOA) commences!

G’day my dear friends.

Enough of feeling sorry for myself and sludging through each day. I have roughly 20 days to my medical, and approximately 40 (to 45) days until the start of the pre-recruit training course.

Weight today was 246.5, I had gained some weight the past 10 days but I got most of it off [...]

And, she is off!

Well, there you have it ladies and gentlemen! I finally got my papers in and now I really need to get my butt into gear. By the way… you should have seen the old guy in the car beside me and the look I got when I was taking pictures of myself. Mental note: Next [...]

And it keeps coming down...

Weight this morning was 244.6 pounds. Seems to just be coming off this week and I am still eating quite a bit actually. I started to eat more meat than I used to, which seems to be good for the weight but bad for me having to floss more often

Total loss since January [...]

Weight Update

I’ve been keeping track of my weight every few days.

This morning, I was happy to see the number, 247.2.

Hello lucky number 7! Will 6 be soon behind?

At New Years, I weighed 263. End of May it was around 257-ish I think. Julia (my friend in Italy) mentioned I’ve lost nearly 10 pounds since we started [...]

My dilemma... start this fall or wait until spring?

I’ve been having a real dilemma lately. My preferred trades are full for this fiscal year. I can still start basic probably in November… and end up in a trade I may not really want. Or, wait until April and end up in a trade I hopefully want (though still not guaranteed).

I need a paycheque [...]
