Time to make big changes in my life with lots of work to do in a short amount of time! I've never backed down from a challenge and I don't intend on doing so now!

On October 13, 2009 I submitted my application to join the Canadian Armed Forces as a Regular Force member. Basic Military Qualifications (BMQ) is scheduled for end of August, 2010.

Up & Running

And how did the interview go?

It went GREAT!! There wasn’t too much I would have changed about it. Usually it’s about an hour long and the whole process ended up taking almost 2.5 hours. It was probably the first interview I’ve ever done, that I actually enjoyed!

And I definitely know the job is made for me. Now I have to wait [...]

Re-framing

This week has been quite the little rollercoaster! Good news to bad to good to mediocre to awesome to… you get the picture. Anyways, a brief entry!

First off, I have an interview in the trade of my choice on Friday. That doesn’t mean I can get into my trade of choice but it’s a step in [...]

Disconcerted

Today wasn’t a great day. Without going into details, I wasn’t a very happy camper.

But two great things happened today.

#1 - I bought my compass. No longer content with a GPS telling me which to follow the magic arrow, I want to step up things a notch. I want to do it the old fashioned [...]

The Reminder

Transitioning back to ‘home life’ after spending 3 weeks in an environment much different than what you know, isn’t so easy. Trust me, I like my privacy. I like being able to do what I want, when I want. But it’s been difficult in the sense of staying active and m-o-t-i-v-a-t-e-d!

Back when I was waking [...]

Small miracles!

I am imagining my recruiting process is going to be a bit more complicated than everyone else’s was. If I go officer, it won’t be so bad. If I go non-commissioned member? It’s gonna be complicated. Go figure. The recruiting office up north has been great, keeping me updated with what they can do from [...]

Making it work!

Just to let you know, despite my really whiny post yesterday — I AM still working out. I’m NOT giving up. They’re just words and don’t mean anything. Yesterday was a really painful day and I’ll be honest — I haven’t had a day of pain like that in about three years. I’m suckin’ back the [...]

My 13K.... how did I do?

Today I was hankering to get out for my 13k walk. My friend Julia was sending me some workouts to get it so I can actually run a steady 5k before I go for my basic training but today was nice, chilly and sunny… not many more days like this before the snow falls here [...]

On Becoming Pop-eye!

During a visit to the hospital while having stomach flu (not fun), it was revealed by 6 vials of blood they stole from me, that I was anemic. Nice. And oddly, not surprising. I’m not crazy about eating meat and obviously haven’t been getting enough iron from other sources. So, chowing down on 3 iron [...]

And it is officially official!

I’ve officially put my application in to join the Canadian Forces. I’m hoping they won’t call until after Christmas. That gives me two months and a bit to get my running up to parr, to keep losing weight and build my strength.

I imagine it’s going to take at least that long to de-confusify my application! [...]

And this is how it went...

Okay, I will give a brief summary of how my three weeks went. I won’t go into immense detail as I will probably just write about things here and there as I remember them in future entries.

The course was interesting. It was easier than I thought and harder than I thought at the same time. [...]
