Time to make big changes in my life with lots of work to do in a short amount of time! I've never backed down from a challenge and I don't intend on doing so now!

On October 13, 2009 I submitted my application to join the Canadian Armed Forces as a Regular Force member. Basic Military Qualifications (BMQ) is scheduled for end of August, 2010.

Up & Running

T- 55 & 54 -- Oops.

Yesterday’s workout didn’t materialise. I spent the day working on assignments as I was beginning to have a bit of a panic about getting everything completed that needed completion. End result was the completion of two of three assignments. I only need to re-write a better conclusion, add about 1/2 a paragraph of information and [...]

T -56, It was a Meh-Day…not to be confused with May Day!

Today I woke up as a normally do however, it was after an abnormal sleep of almost 12 hours! After I got home yesterday, I just felt wiped. I slept on the couch from about 7pm until midnight, and finished the night in my bed. School and homework and work and working out, caught up [...]

T -57 days, Bouncy World

Today for my run I decided to do some speed training.  I didn’t do a lot of distance (maybe 1500 metres in total?) but the first couple of runs, I went from lamp-post to lamp-post, at a faster run. I’m thinking that my speed went from (sorry, I have to use MPH for this part [...]

T -59, I am so ready to get this show on the road!

Tonight I had the chance to gather with some friends after an evening of band practise. Out of the ten there, three are on their way to basic training. It was awesome in that the three of us could talk about our excitement. It was exciting to have a conversation with others who share the same [...]

T -60 days, Run until ya wanna puke...

Today was a helter-skelter day. All over the place with regards to where I needed to be. By the end of the day, I really did NOT want to go to the gym. But I did. I didn’t go for long though, just long enough to go for a 2.4 km run on the treadmill.

Just [...]

T -61, Early to rise, early to stick pillow over head

This morning I had every intention of getting up by 6:30 and heading to the gym for my early morning swim. However, when I woke at 5 I was feeling incredibly crappy and off. The past few days I feel like I’ve been fighting off something. My friend was feeling off last week and according [...]

Our Northern Boys

On Sunday, June 13, 2010 one of our northern boys returned to the north from a tour in Afghanistan. Sadly, it was not the way most return home — safe and sound. Rather, he was one of the disparu … the lost. Northern Ontario has lost a handful of soldiers but Sgt. Martin Goudreault was [...]

T -62 days, In case you thought it was a fluke like I did…

Had my personal training session today. I hadn’t gone in two weeks at least because my schedule was insane but I’m pretty certain my trainer had thought I hadn’t been working out. I was just too busy to go.

“Now is not the time you want to — you know — stop working out!” he said.

I [...]

T -63, Just for fun

Tonight I was chatting with a friend when we were comparing our progress and the topic of push-ups came up. How many could I do? Let’s see, just for “fun”!

It’s been a while since I’ve really done full push-ups. I decided about five or six weeks ago, to focus on working my muscles and not [...]

T -64, Run Like Hell! -- XPRESS test

Apologies in advance, this post may be long and confusing but it is discussing my preparations for the XPRESS test which occurs at the start of week two at BMQ. You need to pass this test in order to continue through with basic training. If you can’t pass it, you may be sent to the [...]
